About Gil White’s Art Having painted with watercolour, oils and acrylic throughout my life, exhibited many times and produced numerous commissions with works in private collections throughout Europe, I decided when entering retirement years, to look to a new medium and style to fulfil my creative instinct. Inks along with other mediums have been helping me produce very satisfying works that have thoroughly challenged my skill and imagination. The works offered in these collections have been the result of almost a year’s experimentation and at times frustration. However the satisfaction that an artist achieves through gaining control of materials and skill is most rewarding. My inspiration for these pieces has been birthed from swimming through seaweed, seeing the sky from beneath the water, the light through stained glass windows and the enormous expanse of the sky at dawn, dusk and the stars and planets. Visual information digested, considered and allowed to permeate the imagination provides the basic requirements for creativity. It has been the results of these things that has inspired me to strive beyond what had been my comfort zone and has provided me with a means in which to communicate a new and different prospective. To observe, perceive and express through my art is a constant objective, consequently I truly hope that these images will communicate to you.
