ALTAR OF THE OWL - BO’HEMIAN FIRE AND AIR: HIDDEN WATER; HIDDEN EARTH!
This etching was inspired by an on-line historic photo from the clandestine and now very exclusive Bohemian Club, located just north of San Francisco and founded in the late 1800s.
It is one of my dreams to have an Artist’s Residency here, because of the area’s natural beauty and inherent magic. In addition, since the original members were all artists, writers, poets, and theatrical people, the place holds a special auric fascination for me.
The printmaking techniques employed in this work include intaglio, aquatint, and drypoint. This print is from the FIRST EDITION (of three), which is limited to only ten prints. All editions will be executed in the same color oil-based blend of black inks (Charbonnel Brand) printed on Rives BFK white paper (both manufactured in France). The size of the image on paper (and the measurements of the zinc plate that was etched in several nitric acid baths) is six inches high (15.24cm) by nine inches wide (22.9cm). The print-size (paper size) is about eleven inches by fifteen inches (28cm x 38cm).
THIS PRICE INCLUDES: THE MATTED ETCHING IN AN ARCHIVAL MAT; A FRAME (12 inch x 16 inch high, Type – Glass & Wood Edge / Semi-Ornate Style, Color - Black); ALL HANDLING COSTS; SHIPMENT COSTS; CARDBOARD SHIPMENT CARTON; BUBBLE WRAP & OTHER PACKING MATERIALS; AND, A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. The work is wired and ready to hang. Framing includes a brown craft paper backing. A wall hook and nail are included.
