About The Artwork
This image was a part of a series called Alter Egos where I explore the idea of self-portraits as personas representing values of self-worth, courage, as well as loneliness, fear, doubt, and inwardness. I wanted to portray these figure as "heroic"--large, single figures inhabiting a shallow space. For this series, I used a drummer tool on aluminum flashing to draw out the image—drypoint on aluminum surface first—then applied ink and selectively wiped (monoprint) the image. The image was printed on arches paper.
