brightly and happy colored fish, swimming in the big ocean! WHAT IS A LINOCUT?: A handprinted linocut reduction print, reduction means that as I am printing the very short edition of only 2 prints in these colours, (10 in all) I cut away areas to keep the color I just printed. This is quite a complicated process, great fun, as you don't really know how the print is going to turn out until the end, it is a technique I enjoy very much, as it feels quite like you are sculpting with your linocut knife and painting with your roller of ink. Experience has taught me incredibly much about this way of printing, managing the ink, using pressure, etc etc, given the choice this is my favorite way of printmaking! All my lino prints are printed by me, printmaking is my big love! I have used bright happy colours for this fish print, printed with water based inks. SIZE: "Big Blue" is printed on a crisp white piece of velvety printmaking paper, the image measures 16" x 12,5" (40cm x 32cm ) and paper measures 20" x 16". (50 cm x 40 cm) EDITION: I have signed, titled and numbered the print. It is one of 2 prints in this color, the total edition is 10 prints. This print is not difficult to DIY frame, you can use a standard frame, it comes unframed SHIPPING: I'll mail it to you, from my studio in Denmark, packed with great care and many years experience packing my art so it arrives safely. It comes with a flier explaining what a lino reduction is, see thumbnail. If you have any questions, just get in touch with me! Thank you for looking in my shop, and welcome back. Mariann

Almost 20 years a full time printmaker and I am as much in love as the day I pulled my first print! My presses have moved with me, from Borneo to Singapore, from Singapore to Spain, and now on to Denmark, where I have set up my studio and gallery. I am self taught, a book, a way to thick copper plate and a gallon drum of nitric acid, making every mistake you could, and learning, learning as I went along. I started with etchings and added linocut when we moved to Singapore. Here I also taught printmaking at Singapore Tyler Print Institue, picking up and learning from the master printmakers there. I never want to be too "old" to learn, to challenge myself, to do better! My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, I have no single line of work, but prefer to make images as they come into my head, through books, I love to read, through radio, music and a huge part, from my daily dogwalks, that not only provide inspiration from nature but also moments of contemplation that results in many of my prints! All my prints are printed on best quality printmaking papers (favorites are Magnani, Fabriano, and Hahnemuelhe) with Charbonnel etching inks.
