A re-imagining of Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer's "The Milkmaid" by Dent-de-Lion du Midi. ... Wonderfully understated tableau of enigmatic symbols. A wide-mouthed jug, an everyday representation of female anatomy. A Delft tile at the bottom of the wall, near the foot warmer, depicting Cupid. The same foot warmer, a contemporary icon for a woman's lust. The whitewashed wall and presence of milk seem to indicate that the room was a pantry or kitchen. Breakfast appears ready for the mysterious Master of Delft, but his maid is nowhere to be seen. ... An original Series One print.
