Casaranello 2 - Limited Edition of 1 Print

I work both in my Boston and Salento (Puglia-Italy) studios. When I am in Salento I search out out-of-the-way chapels, crypts and Crusader hideaways. I found this particular Saint Barbara (who was known in the Medieval era as a 'status' saint; just look at her earrings!) in a little church in Casarano: Santa Maria delle Croce. Working in the tradition of Byzantine fresco artisans, I painted the image of Saint Barbara, adding nuance, blue skin (when consciousness reaches upwards it becomes heavenly) and text. I preserve the elegant markings of time in the series of monotypes from Casaranello, of which Saint Barbara is one. I will share a piece of my heart with the collector who purchases this beautiful, contemplative and unique piece of art. Selling the print unframed. If the collector would prefer I frame and ship, we can work together on framing choices. I work closely with PSF Framers and A Street Framers in Cambridge MA; both work with galleries and museum placements.
