This work stems from the idea of creating mythological figures through shapes and transformation of shape. I am also taking a more sculptural approach for these works and not so much a classical graphical/ 2 dimensional. I like to define a shape from more than one shape in an abstract line arrangement.

My works are inspired by a very personal perception of situations. I create live sized figures in monochrome colours to reduce myself to what counts and what is necessary. The line is the most important carrier of information and I use my cutting tools for the woodcuts the same way I would use a pencil. When talking about the practical background I stress that I am inspired by sculpturing and I compare woodcut the way I do it as THE printing technique which is closest to three-dimensional art. The subject matter starts from the idea of a knot, where two parts can be combined to a construct in endless ways. The area of the wood for that reason is mostly constant - I also reduce myself in this sense to a defined unit.
