ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I started this series of black and white prints during 2003-04 and I have executed quite a lot of prints since then. Earlier ,my figures had details. Gradually, the drawing got simplified into a symbolic representation of the figure. whether it is human beings, animals or even objects. Since I had had a baby and could not visit my studio often, I tried out to say everything i want to say in one colour and I worked hard to find a way out. In these BxW woodcuts,I made the work intricate and visited the studio only one to take out the edition. I have used good quality of Somerset book paper. Woodcut is a medium which can be done with very little machinery and all you need is a piece of wood and tools. In Chatteratti,I have depicted socialites indulging in idle talk. No harm in that!
