About The Artwork

Manual printing of an edition of 100. In this series of engraving I try to show a visual interpretation of the Brazilian handicrafts and place on the fabric, as the patchwork tapestry, embroidery and lace. A vast material was researched to be initially compiled and expressed with acrylic paint on canvas and only a few years later was transposed to a research in relief engraving. The compositions are almost always balanced, with curves and minutiae referring to the balance of the researched compositions, arabesques are created from the observation of different bushes and branches of vegetation in the cerrado. The theme chosen for these compositions was the fauna and flora, for the ease that it brings. I try to style the figures by giving them a handcrafted treatment. The stroke used, wants to reveal a plot, a line treated by a handmade tool and transmit a handmade appearance. The wealth of details is present in all the researched material. I build the parts using a universe of different textures, wefts and strands, in order to create a smooth aesthetic set and rescue the wealth of the production of various segments from artisans.
