Ships in a Tube
For this work I was inspired by russian-ukrainian writer Nikolay Gogol, or rather his death. His mystical personality is very similar to Edgar Poe. In this picture I painted the last scene in his life, it turned out a kind of an allegory for death. In the lethargic nightmare he sees lights beckoning in a fog, but cannot reach them, and the fog is thickens, and crows circle over him. I hope viewers will appreciate the idea and the message of this picture, and maybe found something of their own. The picture was done in the traditional media by watercolor paints, the fog was made with white gouache.
