Inspired in ancient Egypt and the children of my life “El sueño de Salva II” in it’s black version, is the only copper plate I was able to work on during the COVID quarantine in Amsterdam. I wanted to portray the innocence of childhood and the authentic and sacred relationship kids have with nature and animals, as well as that bond we create with it and society looses when we become adults. The limited edition consists on five etchings hand-painted with gouache and golden pigment, printed on a Hahnemühle sheet of paper. The etching printing technique consists of a drawing made on a copper plate which is then inked and hand-printed on a larger sheet of paper. Each print is an original and each one of them will be unique from the other since they are all hand-printed. Edition, title and artist signature are handwritten by the artist under the printed image. The whole artwork is the image of the copper plate on the larger paper sheet. That is the format that I intend to use as a whole. NOTE (see also second picture): Paper size (WxH): 22 x 30.7 inches (56x78 cm) Copper plate (image) size (WxH): 11.8 x 19.5 inches (30x 49.5 cm)

As a Mexican artist, my art is rooted in Latin American symbolism, mythology, literature and cultural history. The images that appear in my prints, drawings and paintings are interpretations of dreams about love, nature and the sacred connections between animals and human beings. They are representations of my vision and heritage as well as my deep interest in Tibetan art. Like an enlightened moment, I have realized the dualistic nature of art, its diversity and universality in relation to the state of mind I have created when I left Mexico. Since moving to New York City in 2010, Amsterdam and finally having settled in Paris. I have continued to expand my working processes and mediums to achieve the best result by exploring their unlimited possibilities. I consider my art to be open ended. It is up to the viewer to interpret it as they like, to contemplate what they see and feel instead of my interpretation of what the work is about.
