Handprinted Cyanotype by Nat Michele, reproduced as a Giclée print on 285 gsm sustainable Hahnemüle Pearl art paper. Limited Edition print. This ongoing project is an exploration in to Natalie's perseverance to find joy through difficult moments. As lockdown hit the United Kingdom in March 2020, Natalie made a promise to herself that she would try and find some positives amongst the gloom, and for her, this began by using her extra free time to really notice and engage with the environment she was surrounded with in London. Limited to only one walk outside a week for most of March and April, she made a conscious effort to stop and admire her surroundings; the rustling sound the leaves made when the wind blew the tree branches from side to side; the warmth of the dappled sunlight on her face; the streets slowly filling with plants and petals as spring arrived and the long beautiful shadows cast across the parks from the low glow of dusk. By collecting these natural objects, and documenting her walks throughout London (each piece is named after the location she found them) Natalie hopes to highlight the beauty of the otherwise disregarded. She also hopes to encourage others to notice the beauty that surrounds us day to day which we ordinarily might be too busy to notice, as life slowly returns to normal and our hectic schedules resume. Above all though, Natalie has learned through this series that however much the world appears to be broken, there is much beauty to be found, if we are able to take a little pause and look in the cracks.

"I personally love that we live in a very visual world in 2020, but my true passion doesn’t come from instancy and digital perfection. I like to focus my attention on creating something that makes the viewer feel the way I intended, however raw and unedited and ‘imperfect’ it may be.’’ Natalie has 11+ years as a Photo Editor for titles such as Vogue, Vogue Business, ELLE UK and Net A Porter, but she is now focusing her attention on what she truly loves; visual arts. She is also an accomplished photographer and has collaborated with artists such as Rhys Lewis, Gabrielle Aplin, Mumford and Sons and The Tallest Man On Earth.
