The famous people of past epochs - Serbia In the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1914-18 war Field Marshal ŽIVOJIN MIŠIĆ (1855-1921) - marquetry work The monstrous hellish warpath known as the World War, Serbia ended as a winner of the Central Forces (Germany and Austria-Hungary) on the side of Antant, but that victory was paid for by a huge price – The First World War killed about 1.3 million Serbs. According to the assessment of the delegation of the Kingdom of Serbs at the peace conference in Versailles, war damage Serbia amounted to exactly half of the total national assets, while 28 percent of the population was killed in the war. According to this data, Serbia has lost 62 percent of the male population aged 18 to 55, of which 53 percent were killed and nine percent were permanently disabled. One of the most famous historical figures is the foundation of this victory - is the personality and work of Field Marshal Zivojin Misic. With this 2018 year, marks the one hundred anniversary of the completion of the first in a series of major European massacres of the twentieth century, Great War 1914-1918, and it is always necessary to remind of famous people again and again who in times of universal destruction represented the courage, spirit of freedom - and the wisdom of survival.

Dusan Rakic is the founder and owner of the craft studio Marquetry Design. ------------------------------------------------------------- Marquetry Design is an artistic craft workshop that cherishes and practices traditional craft skills of marquetry. Our intention is to refine and promote the aesthetics of modern living through the production of furniture and interior marquetry technique. The primary goal of my practicing marquetry technique is an attempt to promote and affirm the almost forgotten beauty of this artistic craft. To that extent I have, as part of my own self-improvement, focused on marquetry and interpretations of works by old masters’ paintings and drawings, starting from the fact that drawing foundation overall fine and applied arts.
