I'm Gemma, I prefer Gem but either is good. I use the Dutch surname Van Gils from my late nan. I am a self-taught artist based in the South West of the UK. I practise primarily in oil on canvas; using traditional mediums and subject matter in a contemporary fashion. I've always found myself drawn back to portraiture and have become passionate about finessing my ability to capture someone's personality in a still image.
