About The Artwork

This work is connected to a series of large woodcuts within the theme of body and space dimensions. More specifically I'm interested how limited, but also available space impacts on body formation and position within and between bodies. I'm also interested in the flexibility and intentionally stretched overall construction which, similar to a knot is different from each side one looks at it. I use thick printing paper, so the work could also be hung without a glas frame. These are fully manually produced woodcuts where the structure of the wood is an important aesthetic component for the print.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My works are inspired by a very personal perception of situations. I create live sized figures in monochrome colours to reduce myself to what counts and what is necessary. The line is the most important carrier of information and I use my cutting tools for the woodcuts the same way I would use a pencil. When talking about the practical background I stress that I am inspired by sculpturing and I compare woodcut the way I do it as THE printing technique which is closest to three-dimensional art. The subject matter starts from the idea of a knot, where two parts can be combined to a construct in endless ways. The area of the wood for that reason is mostly constant - I also reduce myself in this sense to a defined unit.
