About The Artwork

Happy Hryhoriy Skovoroda is drifting across the Ukrainian pond, contemplating the Universe. My new artwork is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhoriy Skovoroda. Each impression bears the personal seal of the author, confirming the authenticity of the artwork. The original illustration features the personal signature of the author, print number, and a dry seal. Hryhorii Skovoroda, also Gregory Skovoroda or Grigory Skovoroda was a philosopher of Ukrainian Cossack. He was a poet, a teacher and a composer of liturgical music. Text translation on the graphics, all calligraphic texts are written in Ukrainian ⠀ Name (text at the very bottom): "Щасливий Григорій Сковорода пливе по українському ставку та розмірковую о всесвіті" - Happy Hryhoriy Skovoroda drifts across the Ukrainian pond, contemplating the Universe. ⠀ Sentence in the middle: "Світ ловив мене та не в(с)піймав" - The world fished, but did not catch - a motto that the philosopher announced he would place on his tombstone. ⠀ Sentence in the middle to the right: "А я його так" - "But I - yes (caught him)" - a thought that always crossed his mind, though it was never uttered 😜
