This is a diptych showing creatures with affinity to the ocean. In the left panel there is a mammal, a horse, marching towards the ocean. On the right there are fish traveling back into the ocean and they can also alternatively chose to go to the small body of water, the bathtub, depending on their mood. In being able to chose between the ocean and the bathtub the fish resemble myself or the viewer, it is a simple animism of human inclinations. We all desire to go back to where we come from and most of us don't know exactly where it is, so in my work I symbolize that place by the vast oceanic environment. The ocean can resemble the vast universe or Heaven. This work appears as a diptych because I love the effects of the empty spaces that such division celebrates, and visually also on the narrative level such division makes a lot of sense. The birds in my compositions many times leave the frame to the right or left in order to hint to the fact that life happens mainly outside the frame of the artwork. In this etching the birds' direction is into the depth of the sky, into the picture. This also makes a lot of sense in the visual-mythical-narrative language of my work, which is very difficult to translate to another language or medium. This is an etching of 4 plates, 4 surfaces of lines and pigments registered one upon the other.
