Chine collé with drypoint etching Plate size: 11,7" x 9" (29,6 x 23 cm) Paper size: 15,6" x 13 (39,6 x 32,5 cm) April 2024 Signed, numbered (1/1) and dated on the front Original hand pulled etching This piece is unique and unrepeatable. All materials meet archival standards for printmaking. I only use high-quality, heavy-weight archival paper. You will receive a Certificate of Authenticity. Chine collé Chine collé is a special technique in printmaking in which the image is transferred to a surface that is bonded to a heavier support in the printing process. The purpose is to provide a background color behind the image that is different from the surrounding backing sheet. Each print is unique. Hommage à.. My medium is drawing. The human being is my motive, more specifically the human body and how it relates to clothes, costume, fashion and fabric. I tend to arrange my work in series with scenes reminiscent of masters such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti. A model is dressed up according to a particular theme. This is the visual basis. The end result, however, is not directly connected to the depicted subject but takes on a life of its own.

"Edgar Degas said that "Drawing is the artist's most direct and spontaneous expression, a species of writing: it reveals, better than does painting, his true personality." Degas is one of the artist's that has influenced Berlin-based Ute Rathmann, whose stunning drawings of the human form are in many international collections. Inspired by old masters such as Klimt, Schiele, Toulouse-Lautrec and Goya, this graduate of the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee works from life models, dressing her subjects according to a particular theme, in order to explore the human body and how it relates to clothes, costume, fashion and fabric."
