This is a double silkscreen of Bear's Belly an Arikara Native American born in 1847 in what is now North Dakota. His story tells of how he came about to wear the bear skin you see. A quote of his before he killed the bear was; "I came looking for you to be my friend, to be with me always." The original photograph was taken by Edward Curtis (1868-1952). The image on the left I used a blue and then used red for highlights. When I passed the red over the blue it gave the blue a very deep beautiful color, which I feel pulls your eye into the image. The second print on the right is pure red. I wanted to keep this image red as a thought of what he must have felt like after his encounter with the multiple bears. I originally was going to cut these into two separate prints but I loved how they came together. The one on the left with the deep blue shows him hiding in the shadows and the red highlights tell you what is on his mind. The red image shows you what happened after his battle with the bears. I loved the look of the excess inks surrounding the image and how the edges turned out. I feel it shows life's not always simple and clean. Signed and dated. Done on high quality, hand cut, heavy weight textured art paper. Ready to hang out of the box. It will come in a simple black frame at no additional charge.

Corbyn Rhodes is an International Artist who is know for his portrait works. He has painted portraits of major stars such as Kevin Hart's Comedy Tour, The Who Hits Back 2022 Tour and the Morgan Wallen 2022 Tour. He has sold works in London, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and all over the United States" Corbyn states "Painting is a way to express thoughts, feelings, ideas and emotions. With many of my works I try to tell a story thru the piece itself. It may be in the subjects' eyes or the brush strokes or even the colors I use. Many times I use art as a way to highlight a particular person or event in history. I look for internal energy within the subject and try and find a way to express it visually. For me, Painting can challenge, frustrate and empower all at the same time. I want emotion and curiosity to play apart when someone views my work." Corbyn also has completed numerous commission works throughout the United States. His works are bold, dramatic and inspired by artist such as Andy Warhol.
