Eva Christin Laszka (1969) Laszka has a Norwegian mother and Hungarian father. She received a BA in Visual Communication and Illustration from the Art School of Iparmuveszeti Foiskola in Budapest (1988-1992). She has strong ties to her Hungarian roots and finds a lot of inspiration for her works there. She works mostly in acrylics but also uses Ecoline and Oil painting, often using photographic images as the starting point. She weaves mystery and emotions into her paintings, and mixes abstract elements into the figurative. In 1994, she stumbled across a technique by accident, using a spirit based marker pen. The toxic marker was taken off the market, and she had to find another way to recreate her effect. She did, and this technique is now a well-guarded secret.
