A portrait of the Mexicon icon Frida Kahlo, printed in oil-based ink on 250gsm, 100% cotton Guarro/ Arches paper (Spain/ France).

I treat the prints with a wash of Chinese ink to make each one individual, with its own marks, stains and textures. These can change in character as the print is hung to dry. This means that, although a number of people can own the same print design, no two copies have exactly the same character.

On this particular copy (5/20 Rose Pink) I love the stains below the signature, where the ink gathered as it dried.

I am an English graphic artist. I was born and raised near Liverpool, and studied (BA) Graphic Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. I began linocut printing in 2015 after a hiatus since my school days, having come across an opportunity by chance while living in Mexico. Linocut and woodcut have a huge tradition and contemporary scene there. Over the last few years I have worked in several workshops in the Mexico City, as well as in Oaxaca and Veracruz. At present I am looking for a place to establish a workshop and artists' residence in Spain.
