About The Artwork

I have been a fan of Iggy Pop since the 1970's. I was attracted to his music but also the performance aspect. His look is very expressive and I've tried to capture this in the artwork. The type of paper I have used is a wonderful Somerset Textured Soft White 300gsm acid-free paper, which allows the lino to sink into the damp paper during printing, creating a softly raised texture to the image which is not visible in the photo. The deep black background has a cool tinge due to overprinting onto blue. I have experimented with different shades of black in recent linocuts. This coolness showing through the black is deliberate and meant to create the starkness of Punk Rock. The print area size is 17.25 x 14.75 inches. I am also putting one of these up at home (in the purple version), to add some colour and emphasis in the room.

I show regularly at Bankside Gallery which, the home of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers of which I am a member and fellow. My prints and watercolours have shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition many times. I worked in making limited edition books for many years and these are held in both public and private collections, including the National Art Library, The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Ashmolean Museum, Museum Van Het Boek, The Hague, Netherlands, British Library, St. Stephen Museum Hungary, U.C.L.A., Winchester University Library and others in the U.K., collections in Cincinnati, U.S.A., and Korea, Trinity College Dublin, Longleat House Library, Yale University Library and other collections; the work also having been shown at Tate Britain. I grew up in Hertfordshire and moved to London to study and have lived here ever since. My love of nature is reflected in my imagery.
