He erases the three dimensionality of the objects of his choice – shrubby twigs and undergarments – by suppressing them(or should I say crushing them?).Thus he translates a three-dimensional thing into a two-dimensional print– as if he is bent on disembodying an uncomfortable memory or a past or may be a present. The fact that he mostly subjects shrubby kind of plants and undergarments to the violent process of crushing clues a sense of sadistic pleasure so to speak. I can’t resist invoking the idea of pleasure here because of the metonymicpotential of an underwear.But we know that images can retainmemories of origin and traces of emotions however vast the metonymic distance that images may claim in a process directed by reflexivity as the one that Buddhika has employed.
