The local bushland of Pinjarra and the Darling Range remain the primary source of content referenced within my artworks. Intimate places within these environs are observed and studied to formulate a multi-faceted imaginative landscape composition. The artworks invite us to consider a familiar yet alien landscape populated with anthropomorphic shapes. They are intriguing places of discordant elements where the real and imagined exist within a landscape scarred by the natural and imposed activities of the past. Low and high key colour skilfully combine with a dramatic use of raking light to create vigorous and quiet scenes that are both, subdued and boisterous. The use of expressively bold and nuanced line create artworks with multi-faceted layers of content and interpretation. The artworks present expressions of a landscape where the splendid promise of tomorrow remains as the primary narrative of continuation and hope. These are places of potential, new possibilities and the discovery of the unknown.
