ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Kookaburras are well loved for their distinctive appearance, joyful calls and their ability to evoke nostalgia and warm childhood memories. This is a Drypoint Etching which was created by drawing with a sharp tool directly onto a printing plate. The ink is then applied and rubbed into the grooves and scratches. A print is then taken by pressing damp paper over the plate. I love this technique or its direct drawing on the plate and the velvety line that is created by the burr of the scratched plate. This ‘Variable Edition’ consists of monotype and drypoint. - Edition size: 15. Once the edition is sold out it will not be unavailable again. - Signed and numbered on the front. - Printed on heavyweight cotton rag paper with archival ink. - Framed in Australian Oak. Frame measures 40x48cm on the outer edge.

I'm a artist and printmaker based in South Gippsland. Having worked in land management I have developed a deep appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of Australian flora and the landscape. I have now married my previous work with printmaking and painting so it's no surprise that the blend of Australian flora and my love for design are prevalent in my work. What really drives me is the excitement of pushing the boundaries and exploring the endless possibilities of printmaking. There's something truly magical about the mystery of printmaking, that exhilarating moment when I peel a piece off the block to reveal the final print, never quite knowing exactly how it will turn out. It's a delightful journey of discovery!
