Besides art painting I have been working in the construction industry for over 25 years on bridges, locks and tunnels, and I still do so. In large design teams I help design the correct integration and testing of all technical systems. This allows you and I to safely use these civil works. I have a lot of respect for the craftsmen who build these human creations in all weather conditions. We drive over or under it every day. It seems so common. In my paintings I give these craftsmen a stage by letting these creations of technical ingenuity shine. Hereby I strive for colorful and powerful paintings that release a feeling in the viewer. Dynamic skies and clouds. Rough sea. And the human creations that resist this. This is a continuous inspiration for me. I know the people, i know the efforts made. I consider myself a realistic impressionist and touching expressionism. Besides construction landscapes, i use the same approach for cityscapes, landscapes, and occasionally portraits. I investigate a subject by viewing it live, taking lots of photos as references and then sketching and creating a composition in form and color in my studio. I strive to paint with a lot of atmosphere so that my paintings take you away in thought and evoke an emotion. I create from an inner urge to convert ideas into a tangible and visual result. From childhood I have drawn, designed and made. As an entrepreneur and as an artist, I look for innovation by looking differently at things which are common and often overlooked. I take a good look at the craftsmanship of my predecessors and build on this with the material and technology of the present time.
