A Gallery owner asked me and some other artists to produce a piece of work about London for a special show. I travel frequently into London and gathered many images giving me many ideas to play with. I had a lot of fun with it and ended up making a quite a few pieces specifically about the London experience. This was exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Show 2021

Corinna Button.Born Walsall 1960. Grew up in Sheffield. Recently moved to Chicago from Teddington,Middlesex in February 2010.Now works in a studio in Chicago. Corinna works in mediums including; painting, etching, woodcuts and, collagraphs.Fascinated by people, her pictures are intensely layered and atmospheric depicting many facets of the human condition.'Corinna Buttons work tells stories, but not in the conventional, linear sense. The stories her pictures tell feel as if theyre in the process of being glimpsed, unearthed, and we can see them as theyre etched into being, scratched out on canvas, layered up in delicate textures and bold, lyrical marks, evoking desire, desperation, celebration, mystery and intrigue, which deepens into bold, authoritative images as we look. Her stories are always unfinished, in process, pulling us in, and her suggestive forms surely reference the work of Munch, Nolde, Beckman, Kollwitz, even early Picasso, all of whom set up tantalizing associations within the subtle complexity of this artists unique and subtly provocative vision'. Sue Roe, Author of The Private Lives of the Impressionistsand GWEN JOHN - A LIFE Corinna works in mediums including; painting, etching, woodcuts and, collagraphs.Fascinated by people, her pictures are intensely layered and atmospheric depicting many facets of the human condition. The roots of Corinnas work may be in German Expressionism The darkness, the colours, the bold, solid forms, the sense of something just out of reach this is exciting, tantalizing work Sue Roe, Author of The Private Lives of the Impressionistsand GWEN JOHN - A LIFE It is not often I visit an exhibition which changes the way I look at the world Helen Parrott (Arts Council Of England)(2007 On The Pull solo exhibition) My work is about digging and excavating peeling back layers to reveal something hidden beneath the surface. The very nature and process of printmaking for me is about bringing something to light. It continues to be a medium that intrigues me and its also hugely influential in the way I approach my paintings. I like to work very physically by scraping and carving at both. Its important for me that the surface holds and presents an intrigue as well as immediacy. More and more Im combining the two media.
