ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Work is the result of my reflection on the nature of closeness, intimacy and human contact. And Buddism in still life. They represent human bodies forming relationships with each other, interpenetrating. In addition to the form of the individuals appear icons borrowed from graphic programs. They symbolize the virtual world, giving the appearance of contact and competing with reality. The works are created by multiple the same metal plates but in different relationships and in different colors. A very important element is a „fortuity” and element of light of Buddha where there is hand writed Dhammapada text.

AGNIESZKA SKOPINSKA, born in 1981, PhD of Fine Arts, live and work in Warsaw, Poland. I won't be original if I will say that my works are projection of my thoughts, fears, concerns, tensions; some of which I don't understand (probably that's the reason to deal the art). The most important matter for me is human between two world: the real and virtual, his loneliness, withdraw and fight for close relation. I make my prints using traditional techniques. Printmaking is mysterious and often surprises me. There is a place for the accidental, intuitive and unique. I have assumed together with my sister and a friend collective: RebelZOO creative studio. We need space to crate our projects and ideas: magazines, books and independent zine "GrafikREBEL" about important, from our perspective, problems. We firmly believe that we are in charge of creating the visual world around us and somewhat influence our surroundings. AQUAFORT? Aquafort is the traditional print made from a metal plate. The drawing is made on a plate covered with asphalt. Afterwards the plate interacts with acid which accounts for the lines in a plate. This is however just the first step. Further on, the artist needs to water the paper and cover the plate with paint. The print itself it made with the help of a special print machine. GOOD TO KNOW Aquaforts live long. In contrary to photos for example this piece of art is much more protected by the damaging influence of the sun rays. Thanks to that it can be easily passed to the next generations in your family.
