The translation in Mandarin gives for many viewers a cryptic dimension that questions one about the image-text relationship, as well as about the place occupied by Mandarin in twenty years, the time when this newspaper will be published. The combination of ink, watercolour and inkjet gives the image a disturbing realism and makes clearer the future alluded to. Born and raised in the French Alps, where I cultivated a strong fascination for the concept of the sublime. This hasn’t left me along my studies in English linguistics, during which I honed my art like a foreign language, with its specific grammar, lexicon and invariants.
