Old Town Water Tower - linocut limited edition print of 50 Print

I grew up in Arvada Colorado, and have seen this iconic water tower evolve with time. The Olde Town Arvada Water Tower was built in 1910 to store water for the growing area. After being decommissioned in 1977, the water tower fell into disrepair. In 1998, Arvada Urban Renewal (AURA) took ownership of the site. Removing the barbwire-topped chain-link fence, the water tower was repaired, restored and painted. A public park and plaza around the tower makes it a popular place for weddings, picnics, or just shooting pictures, with great views of the mountains in the background. In 2006, AURA returned the water tower parcel to the City of Arvada to ensure its preservation. Since then there have been more improvements, including a new lighting system. I went back to Arvada in 2017 for a high school reunion and took lots of pictures of the tower, all the time thinking that I would like to make a linocut of it. Finally did! This is a limited edition print, carved onto a linoleum block, then hand printed on archival Rives paper, on my etching press. Print area is about 8 x 11 inches, paper measures 13 x 16 inches. Each print is signed by the artist, numbered and is an original piece of art.
