Printmaking: Screenprinting on Paper.
Ottoman Empire Series
Paper: watercolor, torn deckled edges.
A multi-layer screenprint with areas containing a puff additive, giving texture to some details
Current work explores the relationships that develop between everyday objects of comfort and popular culture interferences. Influences are heavily drawn from contemporary and modern printmakers such as Richard Hamilton, Paula Rego and the self-promoting antics of the YBA (Young British Artist) culture, due to recent exposure within the United Kingdom. Unique surfaces are explored through print, with special attention to toast most recently. A staple food. A universally recognized item. A set time of day is assumed if consumed. “What is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing?” – Richard Hamilton.
