Printmaking: Oil, Varnish, Canvas on Canvas.
Nature is my biggest inspiration in life and I do what I can to protect it and to raise an awareness of how precious and important every life creature is. Flowers have been my fascination for a long time and what strikes me the most is how delicate and short lived they are. Some of them only bloom for one day and deliver the most breathtaking beauty. When I paint large scale florals I hope that everyone who enjoys my artwork will take time and explore the beauty of nature around them, simply smell and enjoy the energy coming from the plant and not destroy something so rare and beautiful.
We are becoming more disconnected each day from our nature and see things only on our computer screen or television. It's important to start feeling, smelling, loving our planet again to save it for our future.
Born in 1975 in Kishinev, Moldova, Irina Gretchanaia now lives in Minesing, Ontario. She discovered her passion for painting while studying Design at Ryerson University in Toronto. After graduating, she worked in the industry for a number of years and then moved to Barrie, Ontario to become an artist and teacher. After only exhibiting for 4 years, she sold her artwork internationally to private collectors and she's been under the spotlight in her community ever since. Irina's favourite medium is oil and the impact of colour, contrast and attention to detail is her signature.
