Prepare - Limited edition of 100 Print

I am interested in societal expectations of gender and how much a little it has changed in the last 100 years. My current focus is femininity and in particular the trope of the femme fatale. An idea constructed by men that in equal parts sexualized and demonized the minute amount of independence women obtained with the advent of cities at the turn of the 20th century. In Fatale III I am focused on the slippery slope arguments of reefer madness and the idea of the moral woman. In this I hope to critique outdated ideals that still affect how we perceive women’s bodies and sexuality today. Relief print on tan rice paper hand tinted with ink.
