I began refining my minimalist style with pen and ink drawings in the early '70's. With the advent of high performance tablets, I switched to digital format. I stuck to my black and white roots at first but in the last couple of years I began adding color while attempting to keep my work simple yet highly expressive. One friend dubbed my genre "'60's Nouveau". This is an example of that later work. This is a canvas print from the artist's studio inventory. It features black canvas-wrap sides and saw-tooth hangers.

My college years coincided with what is now generally considered the Golden Age for the UC Davis Art department, Accomplished and now famous artists in residence there included Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Arneson, Roy De Forest, Manuel Neri, William Wiley and Roland Petersen. The rich environment shaped my work across multiple disciplines including painting, sketching, sculpture, photography, print making and theatrical set design. My preferred medium in those days was pen and ink sketches, which I rarely did for class assignments. They filled numerous notebooks and refined my style. Discouraged by not making a living with ny work, owing primarily to my misguided notion that an artist does not also have to be a businessperson, I turned to self-taught computer programming in the infancy of personal computing. I made a good living expressing my creative bent in code. Except for an occasional non-profit poster or a nostalgic sketch, I took a hiatus from fine art until around 2014 when friends encouraged me to follow my original purpose. Owing to my computer experience and reaching back to my pen and ink sketches, I picked up an iPad and began venting my creative urges digitally. I am now producing well over 300 works annually and posting to Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest.
