Artist name: Peter Jalesh, born 1942, Bucharest, Romania. A comprehensive set of my drawings and paintings could be viewed on www.YESSY.com by entering Peter Jalesh on the SEARCH engine. I exhibited drawings and paintings in numerous group exhibitions. I held the following major one-man art exhibitions: Quasi Still Life Series, 56 abstract paintings and drawings, Deep Space Gallery, 11/1996, New York, Abstract Endings on Large Canvases, abstract paintings on oversize (11 ft. to 25 ft.) canvases, Pearl Gallery, 02/2000, New York, A Retrospective of Quasi-Action Painting, 82 old and new abstract paintings, Mercedes-Benz Showroom Gallery, 02/2003, New York, New Abstract Paintings, 26 abstract paintings 60X48, Mercedes-Benz Showroom Gallery, 12/2004-02/2005, New York.

Extract from a catalogue: "Peter Jaleshs paintings, after all, remain unmistakably traditional abstract and bound up to a manner of painting which maintains the richness and frailty of the sentimental discourse. The polemical-excess that became part of any new direction in contemporary painting is present in his drawings. Also in his drawings one could see the spectacular gesture, be it mechanical or automatism-like. They compete in beauty and audacity with the best drawings ever created. The sub title "abstract" that accompanies all his exhibitions doesn't make justice to his portraits or impressionist inspired works. Abstract endings on large canvases fits the image of the beginning of this new millennium, when an old concept has to be renewed as the world gets cleared out from our conventional judgment and replaced by a new-world of renewal. Is this new beginning going to generate a new kind of art or it would just recycle old ideas onto new canvases?"
