ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One of the artist's stated favorite works from the 1920s. A Ziegfeld girl enjoys a private moment in her dressing room, exuding both glamour and mischief as only Vargas could convey it. Alberto Vargas rose to prominence doing commissions such as this for the Ziegfeld Follies. Vargas was later "rediscovered" by noted fan Hugh Hefner, who commissioned over 150 works from the artist for Playboy magazine. Alberto Vargas became the originator of Classic American Pinup art as a result.
