This piece is part of the "Soul Survivor Series" -----Hand drawn with graphite lead pencil and digitalized for the coloring process. The "Soul Survivors Blues" is inspired by the knowledge that one has made an incredible mark in the world. Despite the many strikes they have faced in their lives. They still remain strong, poised, and humbled. Its simplistic exterior hides the intricate discoveries of life. This piece comes signed and numbered with the series number. This work will be shipped in a round tube wrapped with multiple layers of tissue with heavy-duty cardboard. ------- My work is heavily inspired by Dr. George Washington Carver. He was the only black botanical artist I could find as a source of cultural inspiration. Which represents a constant outpouring of impressions: distinct isolated images that capture flashes of emotion, changes in perception, or moments of recognition. I believe in the flower connection as a source of growth and learning. My process is simple. I connect with a flower by way of taking a photo of it. In that act, triggers of memories or thoughts inspire the way I take the photo and also then I start to draw. Using the outline only of the photo taken. I find the characteristic lines in the flower and merge them with what I would like to say/draw. Followed by cleaning the image and departing this image for coloring in Procreate/Photoshop. This part allows me to use my graphical side in regard to composition. Completing the process as abstract work of art.

My illustrations embody the individuality and exclusive beauty found in nature's flowers. Just like each flower has its own distinct characteristics, my illustrations convey a unique story, feeling, and emotion. My goal is to showcase the intricacies of nature and translate them into my illustrations, bringing forth a one-of-a-kind piece. Each stroke of the pencil, each color chosen is a deliberate expression of the essence of the subject. The result is a harmonious blend of beauty and emotion, making my illustrations truly exclusive. By capturing the essence of nature as I feel it, my illustrations allow viewers to connect with the world around them in a fresh and meaningful way, making them both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally impactful. As someone formally from the branding world, I bring my design and color background to my botanical art expression. I create each piece with care, drawing on Canson paper before transferring it into a digital format. My work has a moody energy, layered with rich and captivating colors. My botanical drawings embody my emotions and are based on the techniques I learned in both art school and college. My digital works are abstract in structure, with my choice of colors representing the transformation of grayscale into something extraordinary. --
