Sub-bodies is a generative system of abstract images, a hardware and software interface that transforms bioelectric impulses into a visual pattern of points, lines and colors. It is an autonomous system that feeds on data and can only act if a symbiotic relationship is activated between the human body and the machine. The source of the data (the human body) is excluded from the creative process but is essential for its realization, expressing the misunderstanding about the role of creator and artist and the interdependence of the subjects or devices involved in the creation of the work. The project was born from the idea of finding a form of convergence between body and machine, and questioning the essential elements of this interaction by hacking the intended use originally intended for the devices and sensors used. Sub-bodies implies the idea of adaptation, by machines, to the emotional world of the human being. By sharing the empathy between two opposite worlds (material / immaterial and physical / digital), the project generates an abstract and multifaceted universe, antagonistic dichotomies in ever-changing patterns, an aesthetic manifestation of an invisible interiority. Mechanical interference is mixed with human impulses in a single evocative experience. Since the interface is managed by biodata, it adapts to human rhythm and never repeats the same interaction. By feeding the machine with biological signals, in a certain sense, it humanizes itself and the behavior of the data flow it receives alters the digital process and generates unpredictable results. Digital technology and the human body interact and merge creating inevitable doubts about the authorship and authorship of the artistic action.
