About The Artwork

A silhouette portrait of suspects in a police line-up. Part of a series that explores background versus foreground, op-art and how much the eye can know about a person from the limited information in a silhouette. The work is on two pieces of handmade Japanese paper that has been marbled with sumi ink in pale pink, aqua and gray. The silhouette is pigment printed and finished with pencil, ink, and watercolor and then mounted on 2 wood panels. Each edition will be unique because of the variations in paper and embellishments. Can be hung as is, or framed. Like all of my works, it can be ordered in custom sizes. Please contact a free Saatchi Art curator for prices.

Karen Clark uses oil, acrylic and collage to create pictorially hybrid compositions. Her art is shown at the Bellagio Hotel, the Mandarin Oriental, the Virgin, Los Vegas, in an upcoming HBO series and in private collections in Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, the US and more. She has been featured on on Artsy, the Huffington Post, CNN, and CBS and iShe has exhibited with Tracey Emin, Shepard Fairey, Ed Moses, Ray Caesar & FAILE. From Art Critic Shana Nys Dambrot, "Karen Clark avails herself of an eclectic set of mediums and materials, including but not limited to painting, drawing, digital collage, and printmaking. These she deploys in all possible combinations in the service of pictorially hybrid compositions in which she freely samples stylistic languages from gestural abstraction to the surreal, naturalistic, ultra-modern, and romantic -- inventively choreographing this gamut of choices into layered juxtapositions that are at once eerie and poetic, strange and familiar.
