About The Artwork

The inspiration for my printmaking series “The walls have a voice” was the abandoned and dying mansions located in Belarus, which have not only historical but also architectural value. These places were once inhabited by people who played a significant role in history, made a great contribution to the development of culture and art. Through my artwork, I wanted to raise the issue of society forgetting the achievements of our ancestors. Age has always gone hand in hand with wisdom, today we are deaf to that wisdom, we don't care about history, and because of that we make the same mistakes all the time. My artwork is also a kind of devaluation of the ephemerality of life, of changing the value of human life in the 21st century, of life in harmony with nature into a life enclosed in 4 walls, which contributes to the whole wave of diseases of the 21st century. I want to emphasize that these places are subject to constant degradation, in a few years it is possible that they will be even more destroyed, and in a few years they will probably remain only in memory, in a few photos and in my artworks. The series “The walls have a voice” is made in the technique of intaglio (Etching, aquatint, soft varnish on paper). The artwork is sold in passepartout. This artwork was awarded in the “Student graphic of the Year 2018” competition (Gdansk, Poland) and was presented at exhibitions: - 2021 - “Ancient Belarus”- “Mobile” gallery of the National Library of Belarus, (Minsk, Belarus) - 2019 - „Intaglio studio Gdańsk” - “Nowy Warzywniak/04” Gallery, (Gdansk, Poland) - 2018 - “Code: 25.03.2018” - „The Palace of Art” The National Gallery of Art, (Minsk, Belarus) - 2018 - „Student’s Print of The Year” post-competition exhibition – Sztuka Wyboru Gallery, (Gdansk, Poland) - 2017 - „Personal Space” – „Akademia” Gallery of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, (Minsk, Belarus) - 2017 - „Open Youth” – „The Palace of Art” The National Gallery of Art, (Minsk, Belarus)
