Ten Stones: Arching Grey Dorsal 1981 Print

This is a rare opportunity to own a beautiful limited edition, signed etching by Scottish artist, Joan Palmer. The Ten Stones series feature ten signed and numbered etchings that combine her love of poetry with her artistic talent. It can truly be said that each artwork tells a story. 'Ten Stones: Arching Grey Dorsal' depicts the secret life of river stone. A huge monolithic pointed rock, rises from the gently river in which two salmon swim through purple waves. The poetic inscription reads "Arching grey dorsal out of autumn streams above the pulsing salmon". This is a particularly dynamic anecdote, evoking the simplicity and the majesty of ancient stones. The subject and size of this print would be the perfect accompaniment to 'Ten Stones: Beside the Cold Loch' which can be found amongst my other items for sale. The print is signed and dated 1981 in the lower right corner. It is numbered 18/20 prints. The dimensions of the printed area are approximately 17x30.5cm. The dimensions of the whole work are 27x37cm. Joan Palmer was trained at Glasgow School of Art and her paintings can now be found in several Scottish galleries. Her life was tragically cut short in 1984 at just 43 years old, leaving only a few works behind.
