For me, art is not just an object to admire from afar. It is a multi-faceted experience that engages all our senses and emotions. Art is more than a pretty picture hanging on a wall or a sculpture displayed in a museum. It is an expression reflecting our experiences, ideas, and beliefs. Art is a medium that enables us to engage with the world around us, and it has the power to move us. It is the artist’s vision and intent which is brought to life through the use of various mediums such as paint, clay, fabric, and sound. Art has the power to evoke emotions and feelings that words alone cannot express. Art can make us feel happy, sad, angry, inspired, and nostalgic, among other things. While some may argue that art has an expiration date, I believe art is timeless. Art is a reflection of our experience. The themes and emotions artists explore through their work are universal and can be understood by people of all generations and cultures. Good or bad. Art that was created centuries ago can still move and inspire us today. Look at Miro, Asger Jorn, Picasso, and Basquiat, whose work I can look at repeatedly. My favorite artists are Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Yayoi Kusama. They work on different media; they make complex work look simple and beautiful. They deliver a visual and joyful experience I love, with a boldness I respect and drive for. I experiment and embrace the power of boldness to grow my artistic skills. I have found my ‘signature’ style in pop art but constantly test different media, formats, and materials mostly because I enjoy the creative process and feedback from viewers. The ability to be bold and let go of perfectionism. As an artist, you tend to experience a certain vulnerability when sharing your art with others. I did that in the first years but now embrace the artistic journey instead of today’s outcome.

Ulrik Christian Ahlefeldt-Laurvig's playful work combines color with humor while he pushes your boundaries, visual eye, and memory. Ulrik constantly improves his techniques by using oil, acrylic, or old-school print on different media such as canvas, paper, or mixed. It ensures he not only creates compositions expressing his vivid creativity but also tests viewers' perceptions. Feelings drive Ulrik in his work - people's energy, bodies, cultures, colors, the opposite attract, topics of interest, and especially if he can challenge how we all perceive or remember things or people. Ulrik's work has been featured and sold in numerous exhibitions in Denmark and at Virtual Artist metaverse from London. In 2022, he is expanding his territory to International markets like Barcelona and Dallas. With a background as Art Director, he has a sharp eye for details, trends, and media. Combined with his creativity and personal drive underlines, Ulrik is not a traditional artist painting on canvas or other media, but you will experience a world of playful pieces. Ulrik says, "I come from a strict upbringing consisting of private school, Emma Gad etiquettes, and enlistment at the Royal Life Guards due to our family tradition (King Frederik 3. founded the regiment in 1658, with the first chief of the command being Frederik Ahlefeldt)... So when I reached my mid-20s, I ran in the opposite direction of the life I knew with a very red mohawk. For more than 20 years, I have navigated in a creative world of advertising, design, film, and content creation – known for my twisted, colorful mindset. Some think I'm too much. Others like my work. Regardless - I love to challenge the boundaries and norms." He continues, "I started with oil on canvas, which my mom works with as an artist too. The 'heaviness' and deeper dimensions of the materials led me to my darker and earlier pieces. I then started to experiment with acrylic and other media, moving into vivid colors and increasing adding humor and twisted statements. I prefer to work with this light and playful creation, but I still love using the oil occasionally." "In 2021, I started with old-school prints with lengthy processing. It is currently my preferred work as I use my skills from graphical design to print and a world of colors. Furthermore, I receive many orders and wishes on formats and motives, where I can freely play with their memory and preferences on print.
