About The Artwork

The three columns a wonderful artwork of 2000, by antonio Saporito, red steel colorful pink colours of steel, look like Fontana's artworks “In the period I met Master Lucio Fontana, he did these works, not yet cuts, but these free-hand punching. It was what made me curious and wondered what the meaning was. While standing there, I looked incredulous and thoughtful, but his words calmed me, explaining in part what we all know about his way of doing art and abstraction. All this, even today, after more than 50 years, gives me emotion and reminded me of those moments when the turning point of my artistic life in the research world and the personalization of my art began. After several attempts to work on cathedral fireworks and volcanic caves the strong waters, the theme of copper spirals, the pen series, and the oil painting on canvas until it came to what was the little experience of that Which my master Lucio Fontana told me, explaining the spatial abstraction. All this led me to the main theme I produce with steel, aluminum and lead.” Antonio Saporito

Contemporary italian artist Antonio Saporito, live in Turin, Italy. His artistic training is influenced by the modern and contemporary figurative art of the 60s by and the masters of Italian Arte Povera. The meeting with Lucio Fontana was particularly significant. The reflection on his work, particularly mark the development of the artistic research of Antonio Saporito. THE GEOMETRIC SPATIALISM The geometric spatialism is the Saporito's original research. Strongly anchored to material, this one, cut, shaped and perforated with surgical and geometric rigor, represents the synthesis of Saporito's art. Steel, aluminum, copper and lead are wisely transformed into labyrinths of carved signs to reveal the beyond there is behind the material. The rigor and the essence that characterize his works become elements to transcend reality, to look and scan what exists behind the appearance, in the continuous search of the unknowable, of the future, of the unreachable mystery of man.
