ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I love printmaking as much as I love painting. I like to think of my work as broadly lyrical and so it allows anyone to get a story out of it; this pleases me. Pools of water, oceans, rivers etc form just one avenue of inspiration. I'm enthralled by the sounds, fauna and flora found within and around water. This particular print is based on a nearby pond and follows a few sketches of the same. I generally follow the same methodology in anything I create: I see something that grabs me - sometimes I complete a few preparatory drawings as I did with this print. As of January 19th 2021: 2/5 remaining.

Born and raised in Australia and now living in the UK I completed a BA in Fine Art (Printmaking) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the mid-80s. Failed to take myself seriously and so worked as a Graphic Designer and later as an Interactive Media Developer; such an incredible waste of time.I did however, over the years work my way through several sketchbooks of ideas and drawings. I am inspired by many sources and might say everything at one point or another has had impact on me. Over the last 10 years I have returned to making Art almost as if I had just finished my BA in Fine Art (inside my head at least) in a personal and lyrical way. I do not create with selling in mind but rather for my own reflections and/or comments. Selling is great but not at the cost of my own ideas and methodologies; for better or for worse. * I identify as Australian.
