About The Artwork

‘Eclipse‘/ ‘Anatomic Works III’: Renouncing to oneself, is not a conscious act, it’s a by-product. It happens, very slowly, as we try to belong, to fit and to adapt to others, to new environments and societies. We morph, we clad ourselves with otherness, we silence our thought, our gestures, until our identity is temporarily obscured behind a myriad of layers of self-correction, cultural difference and repression. Leaving the self, dimmed and orphaned with a mix of conflicting feelings and thoughts. Eclipse, uses its materiality as an expression of this act of obliteration, it also shows the fragility of that transitional state. The layering and the sawing show both, the need to connect and the inability to do so without losing oneself (at least temporarily) in a context that is always, somehow, foreign to our intrinsic nature.
