Printmaking: Monotype, Oil, Black & White, Paper on Paper.
White Variance is inspired by the monotype work of Degas in the 1870s. It uses a Sennier Oil Stick on wax paper which is carefully transferred onto Zerkall German cotton rag with deckle edges. Tools are used to create the female form within the print. I have always been interested in figurative subjects and in this way I have created a fusion of modern concepts with traditional and perhaps lost techniques. This is a complete signed original and cannot be replicated unlike relief printing.
