The Winter Solstice falls around December 21st, when the North Pole is aimed furthest away from the sun on the 23.5 degree tilt of the Earth's axis. It is the shortest day and longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. Repeating the earth's cycles, it promises that the sun will return and bring new life and rebirth. This is a limited edition print, carved onto a linoleum block, then hand printed on archival Japanese Kitakata paper, on my etching press. Print area is about 11 x 8 inches, paper measures about 17 x 14 inches. Each print is signed by the artist, numbered and is an original piece of art. Each one is unique; the printing varies slightly, which is inherent in hand pulled linocuts. Please contact curator@saatchiart.com for more details.
