This work is part of a series which draws inspiration from old and new forms of mapmaking, such as traditional topographic maps and contemporary chromo-stereoscopic maps, as well as old and new forms of landscape and colour-field painting.
The Xaqqa Valley Reinterpretation series is derived from the topography of a landscape in Malta which is located at a divergent plate boundary. A sense of three-dimensionality is incorporated through the use of chromo-stereoscopic colours which are intended to reinterpret the topographic features of the landscape.
Chromadepth 3D glasses are provided with the artwork in order to enhance the illusion of depth.
