printmaking Johann Nußbächer was known primarily as a graphic designer. This is by no means because the printmaking in his work is actually the focus. Painting and drawing for several years are, as far as the importance of his work is concerned, equal, at times also priority areas of creation. But as a printmaker, Nussbächer has had the most impact on the public. After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, he taught there for 18 years. In 1975 he founded the "HANPRESSE", probably the most famous Franconian workshop for original graphics, which has remained until today without succession. He trained over 400 students during this time. So it is not exaggerated, Nußbächer as one of the most important foster fathers to name the middle and younger graphic generation. For all the technical perfection and sovereignty that comes with decades of dealing with etching, lithography and even monotype probably inevitably stops, traces of mere craft eloquence, even routine, looking for him in vain.
