Art Description

Printmaking: Woodcut on Paper.

Your body always betrays you. It lets me know more about you than you would care to realize. The human form and its language are of interest to me. I find the role fashion takes in this physical vocabulary fascinating. I am continually observing people's fashion choices and the way these affect the contortions and posture the body adopts.
This print is part two of a series of three. It was created from a single block of wood, reduced into 7 different carved layers. This composition was created from a collage of fashion advertising images, then drawn by hand to scale and transferred to the woodblock.
